Comparison 100 days Gualtieri – Raggi

We conducted a survey to understand how Romans are perceiving Mayor Gualtieri’s performance and what their level of trust is. This survey was also accompanied by a comparative analysis on Social Twitter with the aim of comparing the topics discussed in Mayor Raggi’s first 100 days with Mayor Gualtieri’s first 100 days.

The survey shows a newfound confidence among Roman citizens in the city administration.
The issues on which citizens believe most strongly that the new administration can perform better than the previous one are mobility (64%) and waste (61.3%).. In particular, the interventions that the mayor should prioritize are garbage collection (chosen by about eight in ten Romans) and, next (chosen by one in two), street care.
Moreover, if he guaranteed a marked improvement in the cleanliness of the entire city, only one in three Romans would be against having a waste treatment plant in their neighborhood.

We also analyzed the flow of Twitter conversations in the Capitoline territory during the first 100 days in office of the last two mayors of the city of Rome, downloading about 1 million pieces of content.

Context Analysis

The context analysis, on unsolicited content, showed a drastic decrease in the flow of conversations related to transportation (-34.7%), and waste (-38%) and a strong increase in sustainability issues (+65.3%) in the first 100 days of Roberto Gualtieri compared to Virginia Raggi; there was also an increase regarding the issue of security but this is mostly related to the restrictive measures to combat COVID-19.

It should also be noted that, for the issues of which a decrease was found (transportation and waste), sentiment is generally very negative, with posts mostly animated by expressions of unease and, a decrease in them, represents an improvement in citizens’ perceptions.

% Gualt % Raggi Rate of change
Transportation 22,97% 35,15% -34,7%
Security 19,69% 18,31% 7,5%
